1. Have your dog stand on a blank sheet of paper.
2. Observe that your dog’s whole paw pad does not touch the surface of the paper.
3. Mark the tip of your dog’s front paw nail and where the heel of that paw pad stops touching the paper.
4. Measure the distance between the two points using a ruler and compare the measurement to DOGORA High Top Boot Size Guide.
Tip: Repeat the process for your dog’s rear paws, as they may need a different size than the front paws.
Anatomically, a dog’s front paws typically cover more surface area than their back paws; however, this is not always the case. To determine if your dog’s back paw is smaller than the front, follow this simple method:
- While your dog is lying down, close your eyes and place one hand on their back paw and the other on their front paw. If you feel a significant size difference, consider sizing down for the back paws.
Breed Note: Smaller breeds (under 10 lbs/4.5 kg) often wear XXXXS for all four paws, while larger breeds may wear XXXL on all four. Always measure front and back paws separately to ensure the perfect fit!
